With over half of West Africa’s population, Nigeria has great potential to become an agricultural and economic giant on a global scale.  With one of the world’s largest youth populations and a growing middle class, it offers significant market opportunities and possibilities in strengthening collaborations with regional and U.S. companies in agriculture and apparel.  Introducing technical innovations to modernize agricultural practices also is key towards increasing productivity and sustainability in the country.

In Nigeria, the Trade Hub not only supports the private sector to increase exports of raw materials and processed goods, but also collaborates with research institutions, nongovernmental organizations, and other entities to promote innovation within key value chains. The Trade Hub intends to strengthen multiple value chains in Nigeria, such as maize, rice, soybean, cowpea, aquaculture, cocoa, cashew, and shea.
